In an initiative to create awareness among the rural youth about the various employment opportunities created by Government, National Skill Development Council (NSDC), along with the sector skill councils and their affiliated training partners, organized a Kaushal Mela in Deoghar, Jharkhad, from April 2 to 5, 2017.
The event was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee. The event was held to boost Skill India Mission of the Govt. of India at regional level.
20 Sector Skill Councils participated in the event to showcase the various job roles and employment opportunities. RSDC displayed the skills involved in job roles like Latex Harvesting and Tyre Fitter.
Along with the Kushal Mela, a Rozgar Mela was also organized for the participation of the rural youth on April 4-5. Many companies participated from different sectors to provide job opportunities to the youth of Deoghar. A record presence of more than 3,300 candidates was registered and more than 1400 youths had been offered jobs by 55 companies.
More such events are being planned by NSDC and the Sector Skill Council. Through these Kaushal Melas, RSDC aims at making the rubber sector, which is one of the biggest sectors that provides huge job opportunities, more aspirational for the rural youth.
The tyre and rubber sector in India has large potential for employment generation of skilled workforce in the country. Around three million people are already employed in the sector across more than 5,500 rubber and tyre manufacturing units.
