A new development office has started functioning at the Head Office of Rubber Board, India, at Kottaym for rendering services to the rubber growers in Kottayam region. The office will give all assistances that were previously given from the Board’s regional office, Kottayam. The regional offices at Kottayam and Changanassery were merged and presently functions from Changanassery.
The Board is giving importance to popularize activities which help to obtain maximum yield from rubber holdings. Scientific cultivation needs to be adopted in all holdings to tide over the present situation where price of rubber is relatively low and reduction in yield owing to adverse climatic conditions.
Weekly tapping, controlled upward tapping, soil moisture conservation, rain guarding, online fertilizer application are all being promoted by the Board to enhance yield. Growers can contact the newly functioning development office for getting clarifications on this.
The Rubber Producers’ Societies can submit bills related to Rubber Production Incentive Scheme of the State Government in the office. The office will also deal with matters related to Labour Welfare Schemes being implemented by the Board.
