Member Countries of Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) have imported 3.350 million tonnes of Natural Rubber (NR) during the first six months of 2017. The imports have registered an increase of 16.9 per cent in comparison to the same period in previous year. This is inclusive of NR imported to China in the form of compound rubber (HS4005.10, 4005.91 and 4005.99) and mixture-rubber (HS4002.80), said the latest report by ANRPC.
While imports in China and Malaysia have indicated positive growth at 28.3 per cent and 6.6 per cent respectively during the January to June 2017, imports fell in India (-32.7 per cent) and Vietnam (-10.7 per cent) during the same period, year-on-year.

The imports by Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand were down by 14.9 per cent during the January-June 2017 period, said ANRPC.
Based on the actual figure for March, preliminary estimates available up to June and forecasts up to September 2017, the accumulated imports by ANRPC Member Countries for the first nine- months of 2017 is expected at 4.727 million tonnes, up 6.9 per cent from 4.420 million tonnes reported in 2016.
Based on the revised outlook, the imports by ANRPC Member Countries is anticipated at 6.299
million tonnes during 2017, attributed to the upward revision by China on the country’s imports
by 110,000 tonnes to 4.750 million tonnes during 2017.
