Rubber Board, India, spends Rs27.3 million on labour welfare |

The Rubber Board has distributed Rs 27.3 million for labour welfare activities during 2011-12. The scheme, intended to improve the basic amenities and working conditions of the rubber plantation workers, has benefited 26,930 labourers in the organised and unorganised sectors. The components of the scheme include medical attendance, housing subsidy, and group life insurance-cum- terminal benefits for labourers and educational stipend and merit award.
A total of 6,828 beneficiaries have been enrolled in the group insurance scheme that began last year. The scheme also includes cash award for the children of the labourers who have major achievements in sports/games and arts.
