Tom Formanek, the newly elected President of the Tire Industry Association (TIA), has long and varied experience in the tyre industry, particularly in sales and tyre service products.
Upon graduating from North Iowa Area Community College in 1982, Formanek started his career in the truck equipment industry by working as Production Manager for Unicover Inc., a pickup topper manufacturer. After six years, he moved on from Unicover and became more involved in the tyre industry by working in sales and eventually as division manager for Collins, a division of DMC, which was purchased by Stellar Industries, a premier manufacture of tyre service trucks for the tyre industry, in 1993.
For the past 22 years, Formanek has been with Stellar Industries where he has served as the Manager of Tyre Service Products and currently is Regional Sales Manager.
His dedicated involvement with the Tire Industry Association (TIA) stems back to 1993 when he was first elected to the Board of Directors of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA). As a Director for NTDRA, he served on the Executive Committee and as Supplier Group Chairman in 1997.
Formanek continued his involvement as a member of the Board of Directors through the Tire Association of North America (TANA).
His involvement includes being chairman of the events, training, finance, strategic planning and nominating committees. He also served as TIA’s Treasurer for six years before being elected to Secretary and advancing through the chairs of the association where he currently serves as Vice President. Formanek will serve a one-year term as President of TIA.
