The Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. (TOCOM) listed their new Technically Specified Rubber (TSR) futures contracts on October 9, 2018 after receiving regulatory approval from the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
TSR is a class of natural rubber and, along with Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS), are key components in automobile tyre production. In recent years, TSR has exceeded RSS in both production and consumption.
Adding TSR futures to trade alongside RSS is TOCOM’s response to changing market demand. The Exchange continually looks to improve its Rubber market and expand its presence in the rubber community around the world, TOCOM says in a Press release.
Ribbed smoked sheet(RSS)is already the fourth most traded commodity on Tocom, behind gold, crude oil and platinum. By listing TSR futures, TOCOM hopes to lure Chinese and Southeast Asian traders and investors.
