To commemorate the International Women’s Day, Apollo Tyres felicitated eight women achievers from across India, who have brought a positive impact in their community.
The women who were felicitated include:
1. Mini Joshi, Mazhuvanoor Panchayat, Airapuram, Kerala
2. Saraswatiben Hiteshbhai Chauhan, Narmadpura, Waghodia Taluka, Vadodara, Gujarat
3. Rupali Yogesh Bandal, Chavhanwadi, Shirur Taluka, Pune, Maharashtra
4. Sulekha, Vazhoor Panchayat, Kottayam, Kerala
5. Varshaben Dilip Singh Gariya, Amodar, Waghodia Taluka, Vadodara, Gujarat
6. Pushpavalli, Eraiyur, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu
7. Rekha Hanumant Bendre, Amble, Shirur Taluka, Pune, Maharashtra
8. Ramilaben Bharatbhai Parmar, Narmadpura, Waghodia Taluka, Vadodara, Gujarat
These women, in addition to having worked for their own empowerment and livelihood generation, have also helped similar women from their own or nearby villages to form self-help groups and take up income-generating activities.
The event, held in Vadodara, Gujarat, also hosted a panel discussion on Gender Diversity in India with special focus on rural livelihood.
The event was organised under the programme `Navya’ of Apollo Tyres Foundation which focuses on generating livelihood and improving the well-being of underprivileged women by providing opprotunities at their doorstep.
This programme is being implemented in the states of Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Recently, this programme won the Best Project Award in the Sustainable and Impactful Category at 3rd National CSR Conclave organised by Gujarat CSR Authority.
